II Teaching focuses and difficulties: 1、Key points: ① How to make students to use the inquiries and responses of date in daily life. ② Words: speech/contest/party/trip 2、Difficult point: ①How to make students use the Special Question of when and how. ②How to improve students’ ability of listening and speaking. III Teaching procedures: Step1. Greetings. Step2. Review. 1) Show an ID card of Jim on the PPT; make a conversation with a student to review the sentence “When is your birthday ”. Write the sentence pattern on the blackboard. 2) Show another ID card of Mini; make a conversation with another student to review the sentence “When is someone’s birthday ” Write the sentence pattern on the blackboard. Step3. Presentation1) Show students six pictures of a birthday party, a music party, a volleyball game, a basketball game, a speech contest and a school trip, introduce these events one by one and practice how to ask and answer the date of these events. 2) Let students do a matching work in the textbook to check out whether they have learned the events well. Step4. Listening 1) Let students listen to a tape and finish the exercise in the textbook. 2) Listen again, ask students to recall the contents with their partners, and then tell me whatever they have heard. Write some information on the blackboard. 3) Play the tape the last time and ask students to fill in Joe’scalendar in the textbook. Show the typescript to students. Step5. Pairwork Ask students to discuss with their partners tomake an own calendar of this month. And I will show them a sample. Step6. Group work Let students to make a group to ask others someone’ schedules according to their own calendar. Students may use the sentences When is sb’s birthday When is sb’s speech contest … Step7. Practice Let students do the exercises in the ppt. IV Homework :Ask your classmates and teachers to make a calendar of your school’s events.
